The Archdiocesan Shrine of Divine Mercy is a monument on a nine-hectare hill in El Salvador, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. Its main feature is a towering 15-meter statue of Jesus that overlooks Macajalar Bay. The shrine also has a statue of the Virgin Mary, a place for lighting candles, and a chapel.
Finished in 2008, the Shrine of Divine Mercy attracts
a regular flow of devotees, especially during Holy Week.
At the entrance is a sign that says the place is not a tourist site.
Skimpy attires are prohibited. A guard offers long skirts to visitors who are wearing short pants and similar revealing outfit.
A report in BusinessWeek Mindanao in August 26, 2011 says Fr. Walerian Pozniak, MIC, is the rector of the shrine. Fr. Medallo Valmores is the vice rector and Mrs. Paquita G. Adaza is the president of the Divine Mercy Foundation of Mindanao, Phils. Inc.
