Internet Access and Hotspots. The tremendous increase of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Cagayan de Oro raised the number of Internet users. This, in turn, encouraged many ISPs to improve their services by including Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and other facilities.

Business Name Registration from January 2006 to June 2007 shows 203 Internet cafes in Cagayan de Oro with 15 to 50 PCs each.

SMART WiFi has 14 hotspots in strategic places in the city, while Cable 21 Technologies has three.

Webmaster's comment Current Internet connections and services are available mainly in Cagayan de Oro, Gingoog and nearby municipalities. The The farther the area is from the cities, the lesser the chance of having Internet there. Apparently, connections worth P1,000 monthly, regardless of Internet Service Provider, are shared. The greater the number of subscribers in a neighborhood, the slower the speed.
